Last league fixture of a disjointed season and a good result to finish on. We were never in any real danger of losing but did have trouble getting our short passing game together. We finally took the lead through a well taken short corner by Tim Gingell only to gift a goal back to Phoenix on the stroke of half time.
Half Time: 1 - 1
Following some stern words during the break and making some positional changes we finally started to play our own style of hockey. It didn't take 5 minutes from the restart for us to regain the lead and then add another and another. 4 - 1 up and time to rest on our laurels once again, 4 - 2!!
This time we reacted sharply and forced our obvious advantage home to seal the victory with a further two goals. Harry involved in one flowing move down the right supplying Toby with a well timed pass allowing T to slot home easily from close range. The second half goals came from, veteran campainer Jan Lilley (2), one from [not so Veteran - yet] Jelly and 2 from own goal specialist Toby. As is our want we relaxed in the last 10 minutes allowing Phoenix one more shot which gave them a flattering third.
Final Score 6 - 3 Win
Man of the Match went to Toby so well done to him.
Post Script: It has to be mentioned that we lent the opposition a player to make their squad whole and the game more even [there was nothing on the game in terms of promotion or relegation that could effect anything in the league] AND what a game he had, scoring two fine goals - one of which was a rasping short corner strike. So all in all we actually won 8 - 1 but only we know that........Mums the word!
