BRENTWOOD LADIES 1’S V BBHC
NE14 Hockey SE league 2
Brentwood Ladies retained top spot in the league with a 4-0 victory over BBHC on Saturday.
Although the home side were slow to start, and BBHC put them on the defensive for the early part of the first half, Brentwood composed themselves and began to retain possession of the ball.
At half time the score was 0-0, so coach Tim Gingell pulled out one of his more inspirational half time talks to get the team focussed and back on track.
It wasn’t long before it took effect, as Nikki Brimson came off the bench and scored from a deflection.
BBHC battled to get back in the game, but the Brentwood defence were solid, and succeeded in regaining possession.
Emma Davey was next to make her mark, and from there Brentwood didn’t look back. Davey took the ball round the keeper to take the score line to 3-0, and netted the ball for the 3rd time from a deflection when the ball was played in by mid fielder, Lindsay Fulcher.
It was a good result after a less than convincing start, and next week Brentwood face local rivals Basildon, away to maintain their unbeaten run.

Redbridge & Ilford 2s – 0 Brentwood 3s – 3
Brentwood continued their successful season with another win last Saturday.
Top scorer Darren Higgins won his team the lead early in the first half with a good shot under the Keeper.
Brentwood extended the lead to two from a short corner. Higgins shot bobbled towards goal and right midfielder Giles Colwill reacted quickly to help the ball into the net.
The game was wrapped up early in the second half as Skipper Matt Wright scored his first of the season with a well placed shorrt corner shot from the top of the ‘D’.
The scoreline could have been extended further but for some stout defending from the home side. A penalty flick was awarded to Brentwood in the final minutes but Steve Miller’s effort narrowly shaved the wrong side of the left post.
Brentwood face tougher opposition this Saturday when they meet Southend 2s at Sawyers Hall College.
